I get asked all the time, “How much do your gutter guards cost?”
I answer that question with a question of my own, “Which gutter guard is the right one for your home? Once I know how many leaves or needles fall on your gutters, I can recommend the right leaf guard for your home, and it will cost what it costs.”
NC Gutter Guys, Inc. is not a ‘one size fits all’ company – because companies that only sell one product will always try to sell you that one, even when it is not the right one for your home.
The second question I often hear is, “Well, your estimate number is higher than So-And-So’s, isn’t it?”
Again I answer with a question of my own, “Did you do an apples to apples comparison between the 2 estimates? In other words, are the two estimates truly identical? Or does one offer a higher quality product? A product that will be put in by experienced, certified professional installers?”
Are those technicians fully insured, including Workmens Comp, the most important insurance of all? NC Gutter Guys, Inc. has Workmens and also insurance for your property, and to make this a triple play, we are also bonded for your protection. I’ll bet there isn’t another installation company in Wake County that is fully insured, licensed, and also bonded. This is a very, very rare combination for any gutter company to have – as far as I know, we are the only ones who have all this. This is how an apples-to-apples comparison is done, along with comparing other factors, too, of course.
Or, instead of making a genuine comparison between the 2 proposals to weigh the value that each provides (or does not provide), did you only look at the dollar figure?
If you do an apples to apples comparison, I believe you’ll find that, just as a house provides you more value than a tent does, my company’s proposal will provide you with more value than a quote submitted by Jack Legg, or by Cheap Charley.
Remember: anyone can propose cheap junk for your home, but is that what you really want on your home?
If you want the cheapest thing there is, ask yourself this: do you always buy the cheapest car on the market (there are lots of used clunkers out there selling for 300.00 or 400.00 – but do you really want to drive yourself and your family in one of those?), do you always buy the cheapest tires around? (remember, you can get used retread tires on many street corners – but do you really want to drive yourself and your family with just retreads between you and the tarmac?, or, do you always buy the cheapest dwelling? The cheapest place to live is either at the YMCA, or in a tent, right?, but you live in a home, not a tent. Why? Because a home provides you with a great deal more than a tent ever will. In short: a home gives you a lot more value.
So it is with gutter guards – some cost more because they do more, that is, they work better, they offer you and your home greater protection, their appearance is better, and they last longer. Just like cars, gutter guards come in different shapes and colors. Just like cars, some come stripped, and some come nicely equipped.
One thing is certain: we will never install cheap, ineffective vinyl gutter guards such as the Amerimax brand.
We only install metal leaf guards, and they range in cost from about 8.00 per foot up to about 24.00 depending on the type of guard needed, (note that the lower priced ones might need to have leaves brushed off their tops once in a while), how many corners need to cut by hand, how high up the work is, and on other factors as well.
The bottom line is: it pays to compare. In just a few years, the cost of replacing the cheapest product over and over – and the aggravation that comes with that – is a bad bargain compared to a quality product that is installed correctly in the first place.
Have a wonderful autumn season!
