Installation skill and attention to detail are as important as the quality of the materials. Quality materials installed incorrectly are worthless!
To ensure a quality installation, I insist on drug testing anyone who does work for me. No other company my size does this.
Here’s what happens when people call me seeking work, as so many do with the unemployment rate as high as it is.
The first thing I say to someone looking for work is, “You have to pass a drug and
alcohol screening test, before I’ll even look at your resume, portfolio, etc.”
Guess what happens?
90% – that’s 9-0 Percent – hang up the phone!
Those are the people who are installing building products right now for my competitors!
NCGG gets called frequently to fix brand new installations that some other company just finished. It‘s a farce! These Jack Leggs do their work incorrectly to begin with, they get paid, but then they refuse to return to correct their mistakes when their errors pop up just 3 weeks after the job is done. Click here to read why, “You Bear the Risk if a Company Does Not test for Drugs.”
Other straight arrow small business owners confirm what I have seen with
my own 2 eyes – drugs and alcohol on the job are the New Normal in all of the building trades today. All conscientious owners face this very, very serious issue today.
Most companies do not drug test because they just do not want to know – they fear cratering their business by losing 70-80-90% of their workers en masse if they test.
These companies can certainly offer you cheaper work than we can, and you can find that lower price – someplace, for some kind of work, but ask yourself: will that work hold up?
What I don’t believe anyone can find anywhere is our unique combination of
expertise, skill, quality, conscientiousness, and above all trustworthiness, but if you can find that somewhere, and at a lower cost, then take that offer! I would. I will say, though, that I haven’t seen such an offer yet. I’m actually a humble guy, but I can truly say that I only know only 2 or 3 guys in NC in my industry who are as skillful, as reliable, and as honest as me, and none of them works in this area.
